Ezekiel 43:8
When they set their threshold by My threshold, and their doorpost by My doorpost, with a wall between them and Me, they defiled My holy name by the abominations which they committed; therefore I have consumed them in My anger.
A people without walls – When I hear this I think of people that put themselves in a vulnerable position. In my life I’ve realized that when I’ve been hurt or affected in some way my nature has reacted in one way- it builds up walls. Subconsciously, this will take it’s place as a protection not to cause me to be affected or hurt again. What do I do then? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I keep going on in life thinking everything is fine with me and never pay attention to the walls that have been built.
God wants to do the exact opposite. He never intended for us to continue to live life with these walls that have been constructed by our hurts- whether it’s physical, spiritual, or emotional, the Lord wants to reach the depth of our hearts where those concrete pillars lay - and break them down.
In Ezekiel 43: 1-12 the Lord shows Ezekiel a future vision of the restoration of the temple. Ezekiel witnesses the glory of God filling the temple and tells Ezekiel to describe to the house of Israel all that He showed him.
In verse 8 we see a people that enter into the presence of God, they set their house in God’s house. It says, they set their threshold by My threshold, their doorpost by My doorpost. There was one problem!!!
The problem is there was a wall between them and God. CAN YOU IMAGINE living with God and having a wall between each other. When I read this I said to myself If I was living with God I wouldn’t have a wall up, I would want to stare at Him, observe all that He does and I’ll never turn from looking at Him.
The Lord reminded me then, that I do live with Him and very often I DO place walls between Him and I.
Hurt, anxiety, sorrow, pain, suffering and the list can keep going, but we become affected by such feelings and a wall is built which slowly brings separation and allows those feelings to continue to grow without being dealt with.
The Lord reminds us of Psalm 46:1- God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
How many have been in trouble by these walls that have been built.
There is only One solution - Run to our refuge and strength. He tells us that He is our very present help in trouble.
There is no reason to hide within our walls of security and comfort, it is time that the walls come crumbling down and we allow God to deal with us entirely (heart, mind and soul).
Be a people without walls.
Rejoice the Lord is with you!
Proverbs 18:10
The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
The righteous run to it and are safe.
