What do mocha frappuccinos, Three houses & Jesus have in common?  You’ll see!

In 2007, a young engaged couple, decided to start a bible study at a local Starbucks.  Their goal was to reach their friends who lived in the area that would not drive to their church.  Little did they know it was just the beginning of a wonderful work of God.

In these bible studies, they would cover topics that would lay down the foundation of the Christian life. Some people would come weekly, while others more randomly & some strangers would even eavesdrop & sit in while enjoying their coffee.  Everyone was welcomed with no strings attached.

The group began to grow and the biggest study had about 30 people sitting outside on the concrete floor of Starbucks.

Meanwhile Pastor Rigo Figueredo, was in Ohio in our fellowship’s pastoral training center. He was soon sent out to pastor by the elders of the fellowship, knowing that God was calling him for such a time as this to start and open a church in the North Miami area.

From that point everything took off. Pastor Rigo began to lead the bible studies with the intention to build a church. The bible studies would now be moved from Starbucks, to a house in Miami Lakes, then to a house in Miami Gardens, then to a house in Miramar.  Where was God taking them?

On December 2, 2007, New Life was official; we held our 1st outdoor church service in the backyard of one of our church member’s house.  God was faithful and was moving fast. In August of 2008, we had our first meeting in our now rented warehouse that we call home and can meet and worship together.

We praise God for our humble beginnings & for teaching us to build slowly.  We are also reminded that a church is not made up of concrete walls, but of the members of the Body of Christ.  Love filled members who exemplify Christ daily.  People who don’t mind having worship in a house, carpooling to get to a service, folding chairs or bringing snacks.

We were New Life without a building & we will be New Life wherever God takes us!  Thank you Jesus!  It is all for you!
